Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers about what HemeraScope is, how it works, and what it does with your data. If something is not covered here, get in touch.
What is HemeraScope?
HemeraScope is a carbon accounting platform. You bring your spend and activity data, and it produces a greenhouse gas footprint across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, with every number traceable back to the emission factor and source behind it. It is built and run by Hemera Intelligence Limited.
Who is it for?
Organisations that need a defensible carbon footprint: finance and sustainability teams preparing a baseline, answering customer or investor questions, or working towards reporting under frameworks like SECR or CSRD. You do not need to be a carbon specialist to use it.
Is it free?
Yes, to start. We are opening HemeraScope to a founding cohort of organisations who get the full product, including the analyst-prepared work, free while it is in pilot. Pricing applies after the pilot, and we will give founding members clear notice before anything changes.
What does pilot mean?
HemeraScope is provided on a pilot basis and offered “as is”. It is actively being developed, may contain errors, and features may change. It is a tool to help you account for your emissions, not a substitute for professional advice.
Do you use AI?
Yes, but carefully. AI assists our analysts inside HemeraScope, for example by drafting a first pass at classifying transactions or reading figures off a document. It is always run by a Hemera analyst, never triggered by you, so it never runs up any cost on your account, and the methodology, not the AI, decides the result.
Your data is not used to train AI models, and our AI sub-processors are contractually prohibited from using it to train theirs.
Is this an audit or assurance?
No. Hemera is not an auditor, verifier, certifier, or assurance provider, and HemeraScope outputs are not independent verification or assurance. They are estimates prepared using recognised methodologies, and they are not a substitute for any independent verification that a specific regulation may require.
How accurate are the numbers?
Carbon figures are estimates. Where activity data is missing we fall back to spend-based methods, which are less precise, and we are explicit about which is which. We also quantify the uncertainty on the headline figure rather than presenting a single number as exact. Better input data gives a tighter result, and the product shows you where better data would help most.
What happens to my data, and can I get it out?
Your data is yours. For the data you upload, we act as a data processor on your behalf under data processing terms. It is handled by the established cloud sub-processors we list publicly. You can export your data and ask us to delete it.
For detail, see our Privacy Policy, Sub-processors and Security pages.
Which frameworks does it support?
HemeraScope follows the GHG Protocol for footprinting, supports UK SECR reporting, and is built to align with CSRD and ESRS E1. Our full methodology is published.
How do I get started?
Sign up, create your workspace, and add your data: spend exports, utility bills, or supplier information. HemeraScope classifies it, applies emission factors, and produces your footprint. You can also walk through a worked example in the live demo first.
